Chelsea’s Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian was the star of the match as The Blues humiliated West Ham United in front of their own fans on Friday, August 22 night.
Chelsea, who registered a barren draw in their first English Premier League 2025/26 match against Crystal Palace, registered their joint biggest away win, with five different goal scorers punishing West Ham on a wonderful night in east London.
Enzo Maresca’s boys quickly recovered from a disappointing start of conceding a Lucas Paqueta piledriver that made The Hammers take the lead at midway point of first half.
Joao Pedro put Chelsea level after sneaking the ball into the net with his head, before assisting Pedro Neto a moment later.
Excellent ball-driving skills from Estevao allowed Enzo Fernandez to open his account for the new season shortly after the half-hour mark, and Chelsea asserted their dominance against their London rivals throughout the game.
Meanwhile, combative midfielder Moses Caicedo marked his 100th appearence for Chelsea in style with the fourth goal, before Trevor Chalobah also saw the net as West Ham struggled to handle the world champion’s set-piece threat.

The results mean that The Blues are top of the embryonic Premier League table, although they have played a game more than the rest of the Premier League teams.
Chelsea coach could not hide his joy in his post-match interview, heaping praise the way his boys were able to bounce back from a goal down.
“I am very impressed with the performance, the reactions, because the way we started the game was not the best way,” he said.
He also explained why star-boy Cole Palmer did not play the game, “The reason why Cole Palmer did not play is because we did not want to take any risks, we don’t want the injury to get worse. It is much better to play with Cole inside, but Estevao was there and he was also good.”
