At least 20 people have been confirmed dead, with several others injured, following a head-on collision between a bus and a lorry at Kanga area, past Mtito Andei, along the Mombasa -Nairobi highway.

Makueni County Commissioner Abdullahi Khalif confirms the accident, as emergency responders race to assist the victims.

Mtito Andei Sub-County Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Kevin Wamalwa says the medical team is working to save lives, with several casualties in critical condition.

He describes the incident as a serious accident as the injured continue to receive treatment at the facility.
