As part of the 32nd Annual Scientific Conference, the Oral Health Association of Kenya (OHAK) conducted a pre-conference community outreach programme at Mirera Comprehensive School in Naivasha, aimed at promoting oral health awareness among learners.
The outreach focused on encouraging positive oral health practices through interactive educational sessions.
Learners were guided on proper tooth-brushing techniques, the importance of maintaining healthy dietary habits, and the need for regular dental check-ups.
They were also encouraged to take an active role in safeguarding their oral health as an essential component of their overall well-being.
To support the oral hygiene education initiative, learners received dental kits to help them adopt and maintain good oral health practices at home and in school.
This impactful activity was made possible through a partnership between the Mount Kenya University (MKU) Department of Dental Sciences and the Oral Health Association of Kenya (OHAK) reflecting a shared commitment to promoting oral health awareness, preventive care, and community engagement.
Through this collaboration, both institutions continue to play a vital role in advancing oral health education, fostering preventive healthcare practices, and contributing to the development of healthier communities across Kenya.
Speaking during the event, KMPDC Director Moses Kiptanui encouraged members of the public to seek oral health services from registered and licensed practitioners and avoid quacks.
The Scientific conference themed, “Bridging gaps, Breaking boundaries:Collaboration in Oral Health ” taking place at Lake Naivasha Resort is set to attract hundreds of oral health delegates to discuss pertinent issues to promote oral health in support of government agenda of universal health coverage.
