DCI detectives have arrested a man in connection with the death of his 35-year-old brother following a confrontation in Mbai Farm Village, Kiminini Sub-County, Trans Nzoia County.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the incident occurred on August 5, 2026, after the two brothers allegedly got into a physical altercation following a disagreement.
The deceased, identified as Nelson Wanundu, was taken to Brown’s Hospital in Kiminini the following morning for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the DCI, Wanundu’s body was later transferred to Kiminini Cottage Mission Hospital Mortuary, where it remains pending an autopsy.
The suspect, identified as Isaack Walumoli, reportedly disappeared after the incident, prompting detectives from the DCI Kiminini office to launch an intelligence-led operation to trace him.
“Acting on actionable intelligence, detectives trailed him to Kitale Town, where they arrested him,” the DCI said.
Walumoli was subsequently escorted to Kiminini Police Station, where he remains in custody as detectives process the case ahead of his arraignment.
The circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the events that led to Wanundu’s death are expected to form part of the ongoing investigations.
The DCI said it remains committed to establishing the circumstances of the incident and ensuring that those found responsible face the law.
The agency has also urged members of the public to share information that may assist in ongoing investigations through its anonymous reporting channels.
The suspect is expected to be presented in court once the police complete the necessary processing and investigations.
