Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teachers have long played a crucial role in shaping the academic, social and emotional development of young learners, yet their contribution has often gone unrecognised and underappreciated.
But in a move to honour their dedication and celebrate their impact on the education sector, organisers in Baringo County — led by Caren Kipng’ok and Dr. Milka Toromo — organised a procession through the streets of Kabarnet to recognise 100 ECDE teachers for their outstanding contribution to the lives of children in the county.
The celebration was held as Kabarnet marked the 63rd Mashujaa Day, a national occasion dedicated to honouring individuals whose efforts and sacrifices have contributed to the country’s development. The event provided an opportunity to recognise ECDE teachers as unsung heroes whose commitment to nurturing young learners lays a strong foundation for the future of education and society.
The procession through Kabarnet Town brought attention to the important but often overlooked role of ECDE teachers in preparing children for formal education. The 100 teachers honoured during the celebration were recognised for their dedication, commitment and positive influence on the lives of young children across Baringo County.
