A 70-kilometre road project costing KSh4.2 billion has been launched in Baringo County, with the planned network expected to link Eldama Ravine, Mogotio and Baringo Central constituencies.
President William Ruto launched construction of the Timboroa-Seguton-Arama-Moringwo and Poror-Magrib-Sirwa-Lawina-Ochii/Sangarau roads during his development tour of Eldama Ravine Constituency.
The project is intended to improve connectivity across the areas covered by the two road corridors. Its scope brings several locations within the three constituencies into a single infrastructure programme.
Road construction can influence how residents travel between communities and access markets, schools, health facilities and other services.
Improved transport links will also support the movement of agricultural produce and other goods, although the extent of these benefits will depend on the condition of the completed roads and the travel needs of local communities.
The project is among several investments highlighted during the President’s engagements in Baringo County, where infrastructure development was a central theme.
In Eldama Ravine, Ruto opened a Huduma Centre intended to bring essential Government services closer to residents and flagged off a KSh78.9 million electricity connectivity project targeting 343 households.
In Baringo Central, he inspected the construction of the 10,000-seater Kabarnet Stadium, scheduled for completion by the end of the year, and the Kabarnet Town Affordable Housing Project, which has 480 units under construction and a planned expansion to 1,000 units.
