The ninth edition of Big 5 Construct Kenya opened at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi on Wednesday, bringing together local and international players to explore opportunities in the country’s construction industry.
The three-day exhibition was officially opened by Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) President Dr Erick Rutto, alongside representatives of trade agencies, the Egyptian Embassy and event organiser dmg events.
Rutto said the exhibition could help attract investment, strengthen local manufacturing and support the delivery of affordable housing.

He added that consistent policies and stronger international partnerships would be important in positioning Kenya as a regional hub for innovative construction materials.
More than 150 exhibitors from over 25 countries are participating in this year’s event, showcasing products and technologies across the construction supply chain.
Country pavilions from China, Egypt, Italy and Türkiye have returned, while Germany is participating for the first time. Exhibitors include companies dealing in construction materials, building systems, tools, sanitaryware and other industry solutions.
Dmg events Senior Vice President Josine Heijmans described Kenya as one of East Africa’s active construction markets, citing housing and urban development projects as key drivers of demand.
This year’s exhibition has also introduced the Big 5 Impact Trail, a showcase of products designed to support more sustainable construction practices. The initiative comes as Kenya advances its construction decarbonisation agenda.
Alongside the exhibition, the CPD-certified Big 5 Talks programme is bringing together industry professionals to discuss project risks, regulatory compliance, contractual obligations and business growth.

The programme features more than 25 professional development sessions involving experts from construction and engineering organisations, including the Chartered Institute of Building and the Institution of Engineers of Kenya.
The event runs until October 23, with opening hours from 10am to 5pm daily. Entry is free for trade and industry professionals aged 21 and above.
Organisers say the exhibition aims to facilitate partnerships, knowledge exchange and access to solutions supporting the development of Kenya’s construction sector.
