Blame President Ruto over failure to implement NADCO report – Kalonzo

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his DAP-K counterpart Eugene Wamalwa have accused the Kenya Kwanza government of dishonesty in the implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

Speaking in Kwale County on Saturday March 30, 2024 both Kalonzo and Wamalwa said the Friday March 29, ruling by a Kiambu Court that stopped the implementation of the report was sponsored by President William Ruto’s government.

“Yesterday’s High Court orders stopping the implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report is State sponsored.

“This is a deliberate scheme to go against what was agreed on at the Bomas of Kenya.

“The Kenya Kwanza regime has never had goodwill and faith and this is the problem in Kenya; the politics of lies all the time. This State sponsored court action must stop,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo maintained that the orders issued by the court amounted to mischief, aimed at frustrating implementation of the NADCO report.

He wondered why the Kenya Kwanza administration had gone against the agreements they made with Azimio at the Bomas of Kenya while drafting the report.

“It appears to us that there is a lack of goodwill from our friends in Kenya Kwanza to have this process go through,” he added.

At the same time, Wamalwa disclosed that President William Ruto’s government was avoiding the issue of auditing the electoral process as highlighted in the report.

“They have gone to court to oppose the biggest issue, audit of elections. We suspect there is a state-sponsored move to scuttle the process,” Wamalwa explained.

Remarks by the two Azimio leaders emerged after the High Court in Kiambu on Friday March 29, 2024 granted orders seeking to bar the National Assembly and the Senate from proceeding with the process of debating and adopting the NADCO report.

This was after activist Michael Muchemi filed a case challenging implementation of the report.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo appealed to Azimio leader Raila Odinga to intervene and ensure the NADCO report is fully implemented.
