The body of Paul Gitonga, one of the men who were swept away by raging flood waters on Friday, April 18 at KMC Bridge in Isiolo, has been found several kilometers away.
Police say Gitonga’s body was found on Sunday, April 20, in Lowangishu area, several kilometres downstream.
On the fateful day, Gitonga was driving a Toyota Prado of Reg No KCC 242N when the vehicle was swept away by the raging flood waters following a heavy downpour that evening.
According to the vehicles owner, David Lemantile, who is also a Member of County Assembly (MCA), Gitonga, in the company of 23-year-old Rajuel Lemantile and 22-year-old Boniface Muriungi were enroute to Isiolo Town from Kipsing when tragedy struck.
A report from Isiolo Police Station said that Muriungi managed to escape unhurt through the window of the ill-fated vehicle, while the other two were swept away.
The vehicle itself was recovered about 2 kilometres away.
Search and rescue teams are still combing the area to find Lemantile who is still missing.
