Court orders Isiolo County officials to refund Ksh7.2M obtained through corruption

The High Court has ordered Isiolo County officials to refund Ksh7,220,000 obtained through procurement fraud.

This is after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) filed a case in court, seeking to have the Isiolo County officials pay back public money.

EACC is now set to execute a Judgement of the High Court in which Justice Esther Maina issued orders allowing the Commission to recover Ksh7,220,000 from Isiolo County Officials, including 2 Chief Officers and PA to the governor.

The officials are accused of fraudulently paying the amount to a private company owned by one of them, which did not supply anything to the county government.

In effecting the fraudulent payment, the county officials used forged documents, pretending that the company had supplied assorted food items.

Investigations into the criminal aspects of the matter for the purposes of prosecution are ongoing.
