DCI arrests two suspects in murder of PCEA Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced a significant breakthrough in the murder of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari of PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County, confirming the arrest and arraignment of two suspects.

In a statement, the DCI appealed to the public to help identify a third individual believed to hold critical information about the killing.

Rev. Ngari was murdered on the night of May 3, 2026, in a case that drew the combined efforts of detectives from the Homicide Directorate, the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, the Operations Support Unit, and Nakuru County investigative teams.

Following extensive forensic analyses and intelligence-led investigations, two suspects, Felix Odinga Okumu and Berryly Nafua Atenyo, were arrested and the case file submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for review and advice.

“Through extensive forensic analyses and intelligence-led investigations conducted by detectives, significant progress has been made in the case, culminating in the arrest of two suspects: Felix Odinga Okumu and Berryly Nafua Atenyo,” the statement noted.

Both suspects were subsequently arraigned before the Nakuru Law Courts, where they pleaded not guilty.

The matter is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on June 17, 2026, ahead of the commencement of trial.

As investigations continue, the DCI has released two images of an unidentified individual, an original photograph obtained during investigations and a digitally enhanced version, who is considered a person of interest.

“The individual is believed to possess information that could significantly advance the investigation and assist in identifying additional accomplices. Moreover, detectives continue to pursue further leads and are actively profiling other individuals of interest linked to this heinous act,” the statement read.

The DCI assured the public of its resolve to see the case through.

“The Directorate remains unwavering in its commitment to ensuring that all individuals involved in this crime are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice,” concluded the statement.
