‘Don’t be fooled about military governments’ -Mudavadi warns

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has warned Kenyans not to be fooled by the social media hype and affluence on the emerging trend of military led governments in Africa.

Mudavadi said the creation by the social media on such forms of governments continue to reflect a governance setting that is far away from the reality of the actual trends within the said countries.

He maintained that a democratically elected government through the will of the people symbolises a form of governance that largely enjoys a state of tranquility, harmony, and the absence of conflict or violence leading to greater stability, peace, unity and security for a nation and its citizens.

“Mimi najaribu kuwaambia ya kwamba zile serikali ambazo ni military governments, serikali za majeshi, serikali ambazo zimeingia kwa njia ya kupindua serikali za awali bali sio kupitia kwa ballot, don’t be cheated a civilian government elected by the people is better than any military government. Hata ikiwa ina dosari, a civilian government is better any day, serikali ya raia ni afadhali kushinda serikali yeyote ambayo inaongozwa na mtu ambaye ameweka bunduki kwa kiuno,” said Mudavadi.

“Kwa hivyo tusidanganyike kama wakenya, na mnajua kitu kinaitwa Artificial Intelligence, AI na mimi nazungumza haya kwa sababu nataka wale wanaopenda mtandao waelewe. AI inatumika kwa kuchukua yule mtu anayebeba bunduki kwa kiuno, wanabandika artificial voice ya Artificial Intelligence, ati huyo mtu anazungumza kiingereza sanifu, yet the person does not converse in English, they speak French. But conveniently wanamuweka kwamba anatoa story in very fluent English yet it is Artificial Intelligence kuhadaa vijana wetu wafikiri kwamba hapo ndio kuna uongozi. Hakuna uongozi pale, hiyo ni military government and it is not a civilian government.” regretted Mudavadi.

Mudavadi was speaking at the funeral service of the mother to Kenya’s renowned international footballers Mc Donald Mariga and Victor Wanyama and wife to legendary AFC Leopards midfielder Mzee Noah Wanyama the late Rev. Mildred Ayiemba Wanyama in Soy, Uasin Gishu County.

He explained that civilian governments typically elected by the populace and operating under established legal frameworks provide greater freedom within the societal set-up castigating aspersions on military governments which largely assume power through force, often bypassing established legal processes.

Mudavadi, also the cabinet secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs noted that decision-making, citizen rights, and foreign relations are equally affected, depending on which form of government is in power.

“Within the civilian government framework, wakenya mtapata nafasi in 2027 to make a decision in a civilian government. Kwa hivyo tuheshimu sana hayo mambo ya demokrasia ili tusijaribu kuyatupa kule nje kama taifa.”

The Prime CS has called on Kenyans to appreciate the freedoms they enjoy stating that while these liberties are fundamental to the nation’s democracy, they should be exercised responsibly.

He urged citizens to embrace unity of purpose and maintain peace that the country enjoys urging Kenyans not to take for granted the security and stability being witnessed in the country, saying it is a critical pillar for economic transformation.

“There is a lot of democracy in Kenya na tusifikiri ni mchezo. Let us not throw it out of the window. Let us respect and consolidate the democracy here but let us also respect each other, tuheshimiane. Kwani kuna nini, si kura itakuja na kila mtu ataamua. Tunataka tujenge mabarabara, tunataka shule, tunataka hospitali na ajira zipatikane kwa vijana wetu and it can only happen ikiwa kuna utulivu, peace and stability in the country,” he added.
