The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved corruption-related charges against four Turkana County officials and a private company over the alleged unlawful acquisition of KSh.62 million in public funds.

In a statement published on its X account on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said the suspects will face charges arising from tenders allegedly awarded under circumstances involving conflict of interest.

The suspects are Peter Long’ole Apua, Betty Emathe Asimit, Christopher Imuron Apua, Long’ole Apua Moses and Apuco Holding Group Limited.

According to the ODPP, the group is accused of unlawfully acquiring public property amounting to KSh.62,047,757.30, which was allegedly paid to Apuco Holding Group Limited through the disputed tenders.

The suspects are expected to face several charges, including conflict of interest, unlawful acquisition of public property, money laundering and using proceeds of crime.

The prosecution alleges that the payments were made through procurement processes that were tainted by conflict of interest, resulting in the alleged loss or unlawful acquisition of millions of shillings belonging to the county government.

The ODPP said the suspects will be taken to court to answer to the charges and undergo due process.

The prosecution agency reiterated its commitment to tackling corruption and protecting public resources from misuse.

“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions remains committed to combating corruption and other forms of crime, protecting public resources and ensuring that those suspected of wrongdoing are brought before the courts to face due process of the law,” the ODPP said.

The charges remain allegations, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
