The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has today arraigned six men charged with preparation to commit a felony contrary to Section 308(1) of the Penal Code and going armed in public contrary to Section 88 of the Penal Code.
Nicholas Ochieng Bonyo, Issa Juma Abiero and Brian Ooko Ohanga, were charged with preparation to commit a felony and each pleaded not guilty.
They appeared before Homabay Resident Magistrate Hon. Lavender Mukhongo. The court was told that on 14th August, 2026, at Nyangweso Trading Centre in Homabay Sub-County, Homabay County, the trio were jointly found armed with two pangas, a kitchen knife on a motor vehicle with the intent to assault causing actual bodily harm.
The case will be mentioned on 26th August, 2026.
Also appearing separately before Hon. Mukhongo, Hillary Odhiambo Otieno and James Oloo Otieno denied similar charges.
The court heard that the duo had on 16th August, 2026 along Rodi-Ndhiwa highway in Homabay Sub-County within Homabay County jointly found armed with five pangas on a motor vehicle with the intent to assault causing actual bodily harm. The magistrate granted each accused a bond of Kes. 250,000 with one surety with mentioning of the case slated on 3rd September, 2026.
The Prosecution was led by Prosecution Counsel Brian Gichohi Maina.
Similarly, the Oyugis Law Courts heard that Jared Onyango alias Jaro was on 16th August, 2026 at Kisii-Oyugis road in Rachuonyo South Sub-County within Homabay County jointly with others who are still at large found armed with a Maasai sword in circumstances that indicated he was armed with the intent to commit a felony.
Onyango who denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Hon. Damaris Kimeli was granted bond of Kes 50,000 and a cash bail of Kes. 10,000 with the case set for Mentioning on 31st August, 2026.
