Renowned Mugithi musician Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, has officially joined the race for the Ol Joro Orok Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The former police officer revealed that state pressure aimed at silencing his political criticism only solidified his ambition to seek lawmaking power. Pointing to his outspoken “One Term” initiative, Muchoki noted that using music to demand state accountability proved that commentary alone is no longer sufficient.
“There comes a time when speaking about change is not enough,” he said, emphasizing the need to sit at the table where laws, budgets, and policies are formulated.
Addressing concerns that his bid is driven by celebrity status, Muchoki clarified that his candidacy is rooted in his lived experiences as an orphaned child raised in Nyandarua, a disciplined officer, and a local artist.
Central to his legislative platform is educational reform, where he pledges to expand subsidised day schooling and promote vocational training to curb youth unemployment. His manifesto also promises economic support for local farmers, infrastructure upgrades, and small business empowerment across Ol Joro Orok.
Although Muchoki has yet to announce his political party, his entry reshapes the parliamentary contest as he looks to turn his massive fanbase into electoral support.
