Forget Lang’ata if you quit ODM, Sifuna warns MP Jalang’o

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has said Lang’ata member of parliament MP Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o may not be re-elected if he quits the party.

The Nairobi senator warned that Nairobi is an ODM stronghold and Lang’ata MP should be careful and remain in the party if he wants to continue serving as Lang’ata MP.

“I want to advise my friend Jalang’o that those telling him to quit ODM are misleading him since he cannot secure a re-election in Lang’ata on any other ticket apart from ODM,” said Sifuna.

Sifuna was speaking during an interview on the Radio47 breakfast show hosted by Alex Mwakideu and Mwashumbe on Tuesday, September 12.

He advised the Lang’ata MP to humble himself and reconcile with ODM to retain his seat.

Sifuna explained that ODM is a brand that has been developed over the years and it is trusted by a majority of Kenyans.

“In our party stronghold regions such as Nairobi, our party supporters always vote for ODM candidates and those who secure party ticket have higher chances of being elected,” he said.

His sentiments come after the ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) on September 6 expelled the MPs for defying party positions and gross misconduct.

Expelled MPs include; Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Felix Odiwuor (Lang’ata), and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

Sifuna said he plans to notify the ODM National Delegates Council (NDC), the final party organ, to confirm the expulsion of rebel members.

He emphasized that it was wrong for the ODM elected leaders to associate with President William Ruto in the name of looking for development.

“As a party, we don’t recognize the Ruto presidency, and it’s therefore wrong for some ODM leaders to work with Kenya Kwanza government in the name of looking for development,” he said.

At the same time, he criticized the Kenya Kwanza government for attempting to weaken ODM by luring party members to support the UDA agenda.
