Gachagua arrives at JKIA after cutting short U.S visit

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua has arrived in Kenya.

The flight carrying Gachagua touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at around 1:10 pm on Thursday, August 21.

Gachagua, accompanied by his wife Dorcas, was received by his supporters and allies at the JKIA, with his procession expected to snake its way from the airport all the way to the Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi for a rally.

Gachagua is returning from the United States (U.S) where he had to cut short his visit after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) gazetted dates for various by-election.

“Rigathi Gachagua decided to cut short his trip to the U.S because the IEBC gazetted the by-elections date, and we are less than 90 days to the by-elections,” DCP Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala said in an interview with TV47’s Abubakar Abdullahi. “Gachagua decided to come back and concentrate in coordinating activities of the by-elections.”

In a notice on August 9, the electoral commission announced that all by-elections will be held on 27th November 2025.
