Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier has pledged a KSh5 million bonus to the club’s players and technical bench if the team wins this season’s FKF Premier League title.

The incentive was announced during a meeting with the squad as the Kenya Premier League leaders prepare for the final stretch of the title race.

According to the club, the bonus will be shared between the playing unit and members of the technical bench should Gor Mahia secure the championship.

“During a productive meeting with the squad, Rachier pledged a KSh5 million bonus should K’Ogalo seal this year’s championship. The sum, chairman confirmed, will be split between the playing unit and the technical bench,” the club said in a statement.

Rachier also confirmed an increase in match-winning bonuses, with players now earning KSh10,000 for every victory. The enhanced payments have already been implemented over the club’s last six matches.

The announcement comes at a crucial stage of the season, with Gor Mahia closing in on another league crown under coach Charles Akonnor.

K’Ogalo strengthened their title bid on Sunday after beating Murang’a SEAL 3-1 at Nyayo Stadium to move four points clear at the top of the table.

Gor Mahia now lead the standings with 68 points, ahead of rivals AFC Leopards who sit second on 64 points with two matches remaining.

The record champions will face Mara Sugar before concluding their campaign against Nairobi United.

A win against Mara Sugar would move Gor Mahia closer to reclaiming the league title, while any slip-up could reopen the race if AFC Leopards defeat APS Bomet in their next fixture.

The financial incentives are expected to further motivate the squad as the club seeks to maintain its advantage and secure another league triumph for the 22nd time.
