‎Homa Bay County has joined counties across the country in the “Run for Her” campaign, aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing support to prevent deaths caused by postpartum haemorrhage.

‎The campaign brings together health workers, women’s groups, community leaders and residents to highlight the dangers of excessive bleeding after childbirth, one of the major causes of maternal deaths.

‎Participants used the run to encourage expectant mothers to seek skilled care during delivery and urged communities to support women in accessing timely emergency services.

‎According to Dr. Jacob Ogawa, the county has recorded 17 maternal deaths this year, some which are attributed to pph.

‎Other stakeholders say early detection, rapid medical intervention and access to essential maternal health services are critical in saving the lives of women experiencing postpartum haemorrhage.

‎The campaign also seeks to strengthen community awareness on maternal health and promote collective action towards ensuring that no woman loses her life while giving birth.
