Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu on Wednesday, May 7 came under sharp scrutiny, being accused of starting the “Rigathi Gachagua must go” rallying call, yet he is now the former deputy president’s fiercest defender.
Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga and Nominated MP Sabina Chege could not fathom how a man who probably started a movement that saw Gachagua being impeached in both National Assembly and Senate being his current ally.
But in a rejoinder during TV47’s Morning Cafe show, Senator Nyutu quoted the holy writ to answer his critics. Nyutu retold the story of Paul, who used to persecute Christians before meeting his Damascus moment.
“I have to remind people once again. In the Bible, there is somebody called Saul who used to persecute Christians. When he met his Damascus moment, Saul became Paul. Nobody in the Bible, in the history of Christianity, did more in the furtherance of the gospel than Paul, who wrote all the epistles,” Senator Nyutu answered his critics.
He went on to call out MP Sabina for occasionally reliving how he is the person who started the ‘Riggy G must go’ rallying call, insisting that just like Saul who transformed to Paul, he has committed to do everything to defend Gachagua.
“So you [Sabina Chege] cannot keep saying that Joe Nyutu is the one who started the ‘Riggy must go’ rallying call. I can tell you that I have committed, just like Paul who was then Saul, to do much much much more than anybody that is in Rigathi Gachagua’s camp.”
Now a fierce proposer of the rallying call “Ruto must go”, Senator Nyutu accuses President William Ruto of being unfit to hold office.
According to Senator Nyutu, President Ruto has mismanaged Kenya’s economy. He also accuses of President Ruto of scuttling the country’s health system by introducing what he says is a “mongrel” financing system of the sector.
