“Implementation of key projects progressing well” – PS Isaboke says after inspecting gov’t projects in Kisii

The government has committed to delivering key infrastructure projects in Kisii County, noting that the implementation is progressing well.

Speaking during the laying of the foundation stone at Bogesaka Comprehensive School in Nyamache Sub-County, Kisii County, Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary Stephen Isaboke said the Sh62 million modernization project will improve learning facilities and support the implementation of the Competency-Based Education curriculum.

Isaboke noted the construction was progressing steadily and once complete, the school would be transformed into a modern learning institution capable of accommodating learners from early childhood education through grade nine.

The PS said the government’s education reforms were aimed at equipping learners with skills relevant to the ever-changing economy driven by technology, artificial intelligence, science and innovation.

He added the government had distributed more than 300 smart boards to schools across Kisii County, as part of its wider national programme of digitising education which targets schools with more than 10,000 similar devices.Isaboke noted that digital learning would enable teachers to deliver lessons to learners across the country and improve access to quality education.

The PS also cited the ongoing construction at Kisii Comprehensive School, saying the project costing Sh 50 million was part of the government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps in schools and would transform the school into a modern academic hub.

He also provided an update on the ongoing upgrading of Gusii Stadium to international standards, saying that the contractor had started laying the foundations for some of the stands, including the VIP pavilion. Isaboke said the Sh1 billion facility would provide young people with improved opportunities to participate in sports, while also supporting entertainment and community activities.

The PS further announced that plans to revive and expand Suneka Airport were underway, following renewed government support for the project.

He said the airport’s redevelopment is expected to improve access to the region, reduce travel time and support economic activities by making it easier for traders and investors to reach the county.

On agriculture and industrial development, Isaboke highlighted the ongoing development of the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency, an initiative intended to support value addition and create economic opportunities for residents.

He said the project, valued at approximately Sh 500 million, was ready for the next phase of development, with investors expected to explore opportunities for processing avocados and bananas locally.

The PS pointed out that these government interventions were intended to benefit the citizens directly by improving public services and strengthening local economies.
