Roots Party of Kenya Leader Prof. George Wajackoyah on Friday, June 13 hit the ground running in Kakamega County, launching what promises to be an eye-catching campaign for the party’s candidate for the vacant Malava MP seat.
Roots Party will be fronting Caleb Sunguti, in a bid to capture the seat that fell vacant after the death of Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Malulu Injendi in February 2025.
Sunguti, who will be the first parliamentary candidate to run under the Roots Party banner, is not new to the Malava electorate. In 2022, he tried to capture the same seat on a DAP-Kenya Party ticket unsuccessfully.
A holder of a Bachelor of Education degree and an MBA in Project Planning and Management from Kenyatta University and the University of Nairobi, Roots Party believes Sunguti is best fit to compete with candidates from other parties in the upcoming by-elections.
Sunguti did his master’s program in Business Administration Project Management from 2010 to 2012 at the University of Nairobi.
Sunguti has been a Senior Lecturer – Public Financial Management and Project management at the Kenya School of Government – Nairobi Campus from 2008 to date.
The trainer, researcher and consultant in public financial management, budgeting and budgeting process boasts of over 25 years of experience in public affairs, with Prof. Wajackoyah touting him as the best-suited to address the needs of Malava Constituency.
The party did several stops across the constituency, including Kambi ya Mwanza area, where they interacted with locals through door-to-door calls, attending various ceremonies just to name but a few.
