Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has announced that he will convene a meeting of Mt. Kenya political leaders from all political divides, to explore ways of ending political goonism that is rearing its ugly end in the region.
Speaking at Banana Town in Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County, Kindiki said he will be taking the initiative in furtherance of the mandate he was given by council of elders from communities in the region to spearhead unity, reconciliation and development.
The Deputy President added that since the advent of multiparties in Kenya, Mt. Kenya has always had competing leaders at the national level but never again has the ugly incidents of political goonism been witnessed in the region and he will lead in ending it.
Kindiki says as a way of leading by example, he now desists from responding to opposition leaders from Mt. Kenya who incessantly disparaged him and has forgiven those leaders unreservedly.
He was accompanied by among other leaders Kiambaa MP John Njuguna Kawanjiku, Lari MP Mburu Kahangara and Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a who expressed their confidence in Kindiki’s leadership and pledged to support his bid of succeeding William Ruto as the president of Kenya when he retires.
