Security and political leaders in Siaya County have issued a stern call for peace and tolerance as the region approaches the next General Election.
Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations, Siaya County Commissioner Norbert Komora urged aspirants across all political seats from governors and senators to members of parliament and county assembly representatives to conduct their campaigns peacefully without confronting one another.
”Let them ensure that peace prevails above all, and let them carry out their campaigns in a peaceful manner without making wananchi confront each other,” Komora stated.
Echoing the call for peace, South East Alego MCA Schorlastica Madowo emphasized the need to protect the county’s legacy of stability and urged residents to safeguard the peace established by national heroes.

She also strongly advocated for women’s active participation in upcoming politics, calling on security agencies to ensure a safe environment for female candidates and warning youth against engaging in political harassment.
Adding to the appeals, elder Francis Amolo urged the youth to reject political violence and property destruction, reminding residents that true democratic choice is exercised through the ballot box.
”Do not fight, fight with ballots,” Amolo said, stressing that development and community welfare depend on maintaining harmony during the electoral cycle.
