Morocco extended their remarkable run in African futsal after defeating Angola 5-2 in the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat on Wednesday, October 21.
Playing in front of their home supporters at the Prince Moulay Abdellah indoor arena, the hosts secured their fourth continental title, adding to their previous triumphs in 2016, 2020 and 2024.
The victory also saw Morocco become the first nation to win the competition four times in succession, further strengthening their position among Africa’s leading futsal sides.
Angola initially frustrated the hosts, keeping the Moroccan attack at bay during the opening stages of the contest.
The deadlock was eventually broken by Othmane Idrissi, who put Morocco in front. Angola responded almost immediately through João Campangola, restoring parity and briefly putting pressure on the home side.
Morocco, however, regained the advantage before the interval when Youssef Jawad found the net to give the hosts a 2-1 lead at half-time.
The hosts returned from the break determined to create a more comfortable cushion. Idriss Errais El Fenni scored Morocco’s third goal before Ismail Amzal increased the advantage to 4-1.
Bilal Bakkali then struck again to put the defending champions firmly in control at 5-1.
Angola continued to push forward and reduced the deficit through Fortes Anderson, but the goal came too late to change the outcome. Morocco held on to claim the trophy after a five-goal display.
Despite missing out on the title, Angola finished the tournament as runners-up after reaching the final for the second consecutive edition.
Earlier on Wednesday, Egypt secured third place after defeating Algeria 8-1 in the playoff.
Morocco’s latest triumph continues a run of success that has seen them win three consecutive editions since 2020, following their first title in 2016.
