Gabriel Muthuma, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, has sharply differed with his boss and sided with Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, dismissing claims that Hustler Fund defaulters will be denied access to services under the Social Health Authority (SHA).
According to Muthuma, CS Duale rightly dismissed Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura’s claims touching on SHA services and Hustler Fund.
In an interview on Monday, June 23, Mwaura told Radio47’s Emmanuel Mwashumbe and Alex Mwakideu that the KSh6 billion disbursed through the Hustler Fund was such a significant investment by the Kenya Kwanza Administration that must be repaid by all means.
“Kama wewe ulichukua Hustler Fund ukatoroka, tuna mikakati ya kuhakikisha kwamba hutapata huduma za SHA kwa sababu bilioni 6 ni pesa nyingi sana,” Mwaura had said, adding that, “Kupitia Hustler Fund, unaweza kukopa ulipe SHA mwaka mzima.”
But in a statement, CS Duale dismissed Mwaura claims as misleading, emphasising that all Kenyans are entitled to SHA services.
During the interview, Mwaura encouraged Kenyans to enroll in the SHA plan through the ‘Lipa Pole Pole’ plan to access health services.
