The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has launched investigations into alleged ethnic incitement remarks linked to Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale that have been circulating on social media.

In a statement issued on Friday 24th July, the Commission said it had received a formal complaint and that its Investigations Department had begun an impartial inquiry into the allegations.

“Our Investigations Department is conducting a thorough and impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the said utterances,” NCIC said.

The Commission urged members of the public to continue reporting cases of divisive political rhetoric and ethnic profiling to enable appropriate action.

“We encourage the public to continue to collaborate with the Commission and bring such cases of divisive political rhetoric and ethnic profiling forward, so that necessary action is taken,” read the statement.

NCIC warned that if the alleged remarks are substantiated, they could violate Article 33 of the Constitution and Sections 13 and 62 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act.

The Commission also called on political leaders to avoid inflammatory statements as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.

“Leadership at every level carries a solemn duty to safeguard, rather than imperil, the unity of this nation,” NCIC said.

It reaffirmed its commitment to acting firmly and impartially against any conduct that threatens national unity and cohesion.
