Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Oginga has dismissed speculation about his health, clarifying that he only made a brief hospital visit for a routine check-up and has since returned home.
Media reports on Tuesday morning suggested that Oburu had been readmitted to Nairobi Hospital under strict visitor restrictions, triggering widespread concern among ODM supporters and the public who had already noticed his reduced public presence in recent days.
In a statement posted on his X account, the Siaya Senator confirmed that he is very well.
“I have read the nation’s digital news and wish to state that I am very well. I had only briefly visited the hospital for a general check-up with my doctors and have since returned home,” he said, adding that being unwell was a normal part of life that should not cause alarm.
He also gave Kenyans his word that he would be upfront if his health ever gave serious cause for concern.
“The day I am truly sick, I will inform you all, for I am a very transparent person. Thanks for your concerns,” he said.
His sister, Kisumu County Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, also moved to reassure the public, sharing a video of Oburu recorded on Tuesday morning alongside a copy of the day’s newspaper as proof of his good health.
“ODM Party Leader, Dr. Oburu Oginga, is well and in good health,” she stated.
