ODM Party Leader Oburu Oginga has announced that the party will not front a presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election, saying the party has resolved to support President William Ruto’s bid for a second term.
Speaking during a church fundraiser at St. Pascal’s Chiga Catholic Church in Homa Bay Town, Oburu said the move is aimed at strengthening the broad-based government and ensuring the Nyanza region continues to benefit from national development projects.
ODM Chairperson, Gladys Wanga on her side defended the IEBC, citing that the body demonstrated credibility in the last year’s by-elections.
She therefore urged other leaders to give the electoral commission a condusive environment to conduct their mandate.
PS Interior, Raymond Omollo also appealed to the clergy to avoid offering churches as a platform where leaders preach hatred and division.
Other leaders also defended the broad-based government, citing ongoing infrastructure and health investments in the region.
