Police have arrested a suspect linked to a series of violent robberies in Migori Town and its environs.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the officers from Migori Police Station set a well-planned ambush along the Migori-Kawa Road, right next to Migori Stadium in Nyasare Sub-Location.
The officers would later intercept a grey Toyota Succeed vehicle, registration number KDM 289F, suspected to be the getaway vehicle of the suspect during his criminal activities.
A quick search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a Taurus revolver (gun) hidden in a compartment near the gear lever, loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
A further search revealed two extra rounds of 0.22mm ammunition stashed away in the right driver’s door handle, along with a dagger.
The suspect, 32-year-old Justine Nyamete Jepter, now finds himself behind bars at Migori Police Station, where he is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment.
Meanwhile, the seized firearm and the impounded vehicle have been detained as exhibits.
