President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to corrupt officials and institutions, declaring that the government will not relent in its fight against fraud in the healthcare and procurement sectors.
Speaking in Siaya County during an interdenominational prayer service at Siaya KMTC grounds, the President emphasized the transformative role of the new Social Health Authority (SHA) and digital systems in exposing long-standing malpractice under the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Ruto revealed that the government is investigating a staggering Ksh 30 billion debt linked to NHIF, warning that attempts to transfer corrupt practices from NHIF to SHA would be futile.
Turning to public procurement, Ruto criticized officials who inflate commodity prices and resist the adoption of e-procurement systems.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability and warned that any official who is not ready to walk with them in e-procurement should quit and look for alternative jobs.
The President who was flanked by several dignitaries including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Energy CS James Opiyo Wandayi and his Treasury counterpart John Mbadi and several MPs extended his anti-corruption warning to all arms of government including Parliament, the Judiciary, and county administrations promising unwavering resolve in safeguarding public resources.
He said that no amount of blackmail or intimidation will stop them, adding that every penny given by the people of Kenya must be spent for its intended purpose.
President Ruto’s remarks come amid growing public demand for accountability and reform in key government institutions.
