President Ruto to support Luhyas for the presidency in 2032

Leaders from the Luhyia community have claimed President William Ruto will support a presidential candidate from the Luhyia community to succeed him in 2032.

Politicians from the western region have alleged that they had an agreement with the Kenya Kwanza government about the 2032 presidential elections.

The Luhyia presidency allegations were triggered by Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale who emphasized that President William Ruto will support a presidential candidate from the community to succeed him after his two terms in office.

According to a reliable source, political leaders from the Western region are supporting the candidature of Musalia Mudavadi in the 2032 elections.

“We asked our people to support William Ruto because we knew he holds the key to a Luhiya president in the 2032 elections,” claimed Senator Khalwale.

Khalwale alleged that during President Ruto’s recent tour in the Western region, he pledged to support a Luhyia presidential candidate after he leaves office.

The revelation by a section of Luhyia politicians has caused an uproar in the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.

For instance, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei disputed Khalwale’s allegations, arguing that it was too early to discuss Ruto’s succession.

At the same time, Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi echoed the Nandi senator’s remarks, saying that it was not the right time for succession politics.

“This is not the right time to discuss the 2032 elections since President Ruto has not even finished his first term in office,” the Mathira MP noted.

Senator Cherargei also added that leaders should focus on service delivery which will determine whether they are re-elected in 2027 and 2032.

Cherargei explained that the president was currently focused on service delivery for Kenyans and there was no time for politicking.
