Homicide detectives have arrested the main suspect linked to the murder of Technical University of Kenya (TUK) lecturer Edgar Mokua, whose body was found days after he went missing from his Lavington home.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mokua was last seen on July 6, 2026, when he left his residence at Princes Park in Lavington at around 4:20 p.m.

After he failed to return home, his family reported him missing at Muthangari Police Station.

Five days later, his body was discovered near Woodcreek Academy and later taken to the City Mortuary by officers from Kiamumbi Police Station.

The case was taken over by homicide detectives, who established that Mokua had spent the evening of his disappearance at Kettle Club with two men and a woman before the group moved to Ibiza Club at Lavington Mall.

His companions later left the club, leaving him behind. He was never seen alive again.

Investigators used forensic evidence to trace a grey Toyota Ractis, registration number KBZ 002R, which is believed to have been used to dump Mokua’s body before speeding away from the scene.

Following investigations, detectives arrested Richard Gikuhe Mbugua, the registered owner of the vehicle, at Ruiru Blue Estate.

The vehicle was later recovered at Murera Farm in Juja.

The suspect is being held in police custody pending arraignment, while the vehicle has been impounded as an exhibit. Investigations into the murder are ongoing.
