Acting ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo has dared Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku to ditch the party if he feels dissatisfied as a member.

This comes amid growing tension after Governor Lenku’s remarks a few weeks ago that he will lead a mass exodus of the Maa community from the Orange party, if its top leadership continues supporting candidates from rival parties.

Speaking in Butula Constituency, Busia County, Omanyo lashed out at Lenku for his remarks on ODM leadership allegedly sidelining the Maa community,  alluding that the ODM party officials have been respecting all the supporters who have continued to back the party in the county.

The acting party SG stressed that it is hypocritical for Governor Lenku to continue enjoying the privileges of being elected on an ODM ticket, and also the Maa community enjoying more goodies from the Broad-based Government while openly criticizing the party.

According to Omanyo, ODM will not tolerate political double-speak, adding that Governor Lenku should be bold enough to resign and seek a fresh mandate on his new party of choice.

She said that ODM officials will now have liberty to publicly campaign for United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) candidate; Martin Moshisho who is Lenku’s deputy seeking to replace his boss in the 2027 general election.
