Senior Advisor on Constitutional Affairs to President Ruto, Prof Makau Mutua, launched a vicious attack towards Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna asking him to resign from his position as the Secretary General of ODM.
In a post made through his X (formerly Twitter) account, Prof. Makau insinuated that the personal stand of Senator Sifuna does not match ODM Party’s recent sentiments thus he should do the honourable thing of leaving the seat.
Prof. Makau further noted that resignation is unheard of in President Ruto led land, a statement seemingly mocking the Nairobi Senator.
“My good learned friend and Senator Edwin Sifuna appears to be in an UNTENABLE position as SG of The ODM Party. It seems to me that the honorable thing for him to do if he’s a man of principle is resign his post, which almost never happens in Kenya, unless one is sacked.”Prof. Makau passionately wrote.
In a quick rejoinder, Senator Sifuna who set his eyes on the post clapped back at Mutua pointing out that the Professor is worried about things that should be of less concern to him since he is not even his friend.
“Omwami you have the UNENVIABLE task of determining the value of the lives of the young people…killed and compensate their families. One would imagine that crown to be so heavy as not to allow the wearer time for anything else, let alone worrying about the SG of ODM, who isn’t even your friend.” Sifuna clapped back.
It should be remembered that Sifuna threatened to defy his role as the Secretary General of the Orange party should they decide to back President Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
He maintained he will not read the statement bearing the decision asserting that he still has his freedom despite holding that position.
“Raila himself has said that this is a democratic party and any member is free to speak their mind, yet some thugs are saying I cannot hold views independent of the party just because I am the Secretary General, that I represent the party at all times,” he partly said emphasizing on his party leader’s remarks.
