‘Ruto fighting back against old order of regional favouritism’ – Lusaka

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has claimed that President William Ruto is facing opposition from certain communities because he has sought to bring equity in the development of regions across the country.

Speaking in Shilukhu, Malava Constituency, during an interdenominational church service and a subsequent fundraiser, Lusaka said the Head of State had ended the old style of concentrating development in particular regions and was instead spreading projects across the entire country.

He said the beneficiaries of the previous arrangement were unhappy about the change.

“Those who are fighting Ruto are doing so because they come from regions that have held the presidency and are already highly developed,” he said.

The governor also took aim at the opposition, accusing it of lacking an agenda or a clear roadmap for the country.

He challenged opposition leaders to stop what he termed rhetoric and instead tell Kenyans their plan for tackling the problems facing the nation.

“Let the opposition stop rhetoric and tell the country what their game plan is to fix the problems affecting the nation,” Lusaka said.

Turning to residents of the Mulembe region, he urged them not to be swayed by emotions when voting but to make wise choices, noting that the President had made significant investments in the development of the region.
