President William Ruto has condoled with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

In a message on Monday, September 7, 2027, Ruto expressed his condolences to President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Kenya, the First Lady, my family and on my own behalf, I convey our heartfelt condolences to President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania,” read part of Ruto’s statement.

President Ruto described Hafidh as a lifelong companion to President Samia, a beloved father to their children and a distinguished son of Tanzania.

“President Samia has lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, and Tanzania a distinguished son,” he said.

“Kenya stands with our Tanzanian brothers and sisters in this moment of grief,” he added.

Ruto’s remarks emerged shortly after Tanzanian Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi announced the death of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, Samia Suluhu’s husband.

He said Hassan died on Monday at 8 am while receiving treatment at a hospital in Zanzibar.

“We are saddened to announce the death of  Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the husband of President Samia Suluhu Hassan. He died today at 8 am in Zanzibar where he was receiving treatment for heart related complications,” Ndejembi.

The Vice President added that funeral plans are ongoing in Zanzibar.
