Six people have been killed and seven others injured following a fatal accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
The accident that occured at around 1:50 am Tuesday, July 7 near Kapiti Plains, Machakos County, involved two lorries and a passenger bus.
A police report says that the accident happened when a lorry travelling from Mombasa towards the Nairobi direction collided with an oncoming lorry.
The impact of the crash caused one of the lorries to lose control, crashing head-on with the oncoming bus.
Unfortunately, the driver of the first lorry, as well as the bus driver, alongside four passengers of the bus died at the scene of accident.
Kalama Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Gaitirira said; “This morning we had a road traffic accident that is fatal which occured at around 1.00am. It involved three vehicles, two trailers and a bus.”
The injured were rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
The wreckage of the vehicles have been towed to Kyumbi Police Station, even as investigations continue.
