Tearful Cristiano celebrates first Saudi league title with Al-Nassr triumph

Cristiano Ronaldo has won his first league title since moving to Saudi Arabia after guiding Al-Nassr to a commanding 4-1 victory over Damac Club on the final day of the season.

The 41-year-old Portuguese forward scored twice in the decisive win, sealing a long-awaited domestic triumph after two frustrating runner-up finishes in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in early 2023, has consistently delivered impressive individual numbers despite missing out on silverware in previous campaigns. He finished as the league’s top scorer with 35 goals in the 2023/24 season before netting another 25 goals in 2024/25.

The emotional significance of the victory was evident at the final whistle, with Ronaldo appearing in tears as Al-Nassr players and fans celebrated the title triumph.

It marks Ronaldo’s first major league honour since winning the Serie A title with Juventus in 2020. Before his move to Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in football history, including five UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

Attention now shifts to the international stage, with Ronaldo included in Portugal national football team squad for the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup set to take place in the USA, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.

The tournament will mark Ronaldo’s sixth World Cup appearance, extending his record as the only player to score in five different World Cups.

Meanwhile, longtime rival Lionel Messi is also expected to feature at a sixth World Cup for defending champions Argentina national football team, although the squad is yet to be officially announced.
