Police in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, have arrested an 18-year-old man suspected of murdering an 84-year-old woman in the area.

Florence Khosa was admitted to Cheranganyi Nursing Home after sustaining serious injuries following a brutal attack by the suspect.

The octogenarian succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the facility.

After the attack, Ezekiel Nyongesa Barasa is said to have gone into hiding, with detectives handling the case trailing him to his hideout.

Ths suspecte was reportedly subjected to an identification parade, where witnesses positively identified him.

Disturbing revelation

But even as detectives continue with their investigation, it is now emerging that the suspect may have been involved in the murder of another 86-year-old woman in the neighbouring Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma County.

Preliminary investigations have further established that the suspect may have sexually assaulted the 84-year-old victim before killing her.

“Detectives are now leaving no stone unturned as forensic examinations and other critical lines of investigation are being pursued to reconstruct the events and establish the full circumstances surrounding the offence,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations says.
