Ten people have been killed and three others seriously injured after a vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck in Bugiri District, eastern Uganda.
The accident occured on Wednesday, December 10 morning at around 7:00 am at Busowa Town Council along the Busia Highway.

Police say that the driver of a Toyota Hiace vehicle attempted to overtake an unidentified vehicle, but another vehicle approached from the opposite direction.
“In an effort to avoid a head-on collision, the driver swerved to the left, lost control and rammed into a stationary trailer,” Superintendent of Police Kananura Michael told journalists.
The impact killed ten people on the spot, including the driver and left three others with injuries. All the deceased and injured were occupants of the Toyota Hiace.
“Our team responded promptly, rushing the survivors to hospital and conveying the bodies of the deceased to the same hospital mortuary. Investigations into the crash have commenced. We urge all motorists to desist from reckless road behaviour, including speeding and unsafe overtaking, which continue to be major causes of crashes on our roads. Drivers are reminded to exercise maximum caution and prioritise safety at all times,” SP Kananura said.
