Three suspected criminal gang members have been charged at a Malindi magistrates court with various criminal offences including preparation to randomly attack members of the public, causing injury and robbing them.
Ali Athman Shekue, Yasser Shiyalo and Anderson Jillo separately appeared before Malindi Principal Magistrate Nancy Makau where Sheuke and Jillo denied the charges and were slapped with a Sh. 50,000 bond each with sureties while Shiyalo will undergo mental assessment before taking plea.
They are charged with preparation to commit a felony contrary to section 308 (3)(b) as read with sub section 4 of the penal code.
Ali Athman Shekue was charged that on the 3rd day of September 2026 at Maweni area in Malindi, Kilifi County while armed with a wooden stick was found hiding in an unfinished building, gathered as organized criminal group known as team ‘PANGA BOYS’ suspected to be connected with commission of preparation to randomly attack unsuspecting members of the public causing injury and robbing them.
Yasser Shiyalo, was charged that on 3rd September at Saba Saba area was found armed with a panga in his waist while on a motor cycle as a pillion passenger, suspected to be connected with commission of preparation to randomly attack unsuspecting members of the public and robbing them
While Anderson Jillo was charged that on 3rd September 7, 2026 at Maweni area jointly with others not before court while armed with wooden stick were found hiding in a thicket gathered as organized criminal group known as ‘TEAM PANGA BOYS’ suspected to be connected with commission of preparation to randomly attack unsuspected members of the public, causing injury and robbing them.
Hon Makau directed the accused to be remanded at the Malindi GK prison awaiting mention of their case on 24th September, 2026. While Shiyalo will appear on 9th September 7, 2026 for plea taking after undergoing mental assessment.
