Leaders from Uasin Gishu County have expressed their readiness to welcome President William Ruto as he embarks on a development tour of the North Rift region ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The venue for this year’s Mashujaa Day (October 20, 2026) is Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County.
The tour is expected to focus on the commissioning and inspection of ongoing development projects as the government seeks to showcase its achievements and assess progress on key commitments to Kenyans.
Uasin Gishu County leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a successful presidential visit to the region, describing the tour as an important opportunity to showcase development projects and engage with residents.
The President’s development tour is expected to cover several counties in the North Rift region, including Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Elgeyo-Marakwet and Baringo.
Among the key projects highlighted is the Kenya School of TVET in Moiben Constituency, which is expected to strengthen technical and vocational education by expanding training capacity and improving the availability of skilled trainers across the country.
The visit will also provide an opportunity to assess progress on affordable housing projects, with the government maintaining that the initiative is expanding access to decent and affordable homes for Kenyans.
Uasin Gishu leaders say the tour will give residents an opportunity to witness development projects firsthand and assess progress in fulfilling the government’s development commitments.
Preparations are also underway to mobilise residents for public rallies in Eldoret and Ziwa, where the President is expected to address the public.
The leaders have described the visit as historic, noting that the region is preparing to host national Mashujaa Day celebrations, an occasion expected to place Uasin Gishu County in the national spotlight and create opportunities for local businesses.
They have called on residents to turn out in large numbers and participate in the planned activities as the county prepares to receive the Head of State.
