The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leadership has clarified that the party will support the ODM candidate in the upcoming Kasipul by-election, insisting that the move is aimed at strengthening the broad-based government arrangement.
Speaking during a Church Harambee in Nyalieng’a, Homa Bay County, Senate Majority Leader Aron Cheruiyot dismissed recent actions by a section of local UDA officials who publicly backed independent candidate Philip Aroko, terming their move as personal and not reflective of the party’s official position.
On her part, ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga reiterated the party’s commitment to the broad-based government, firmly stating that ODM will not return to the opposition.
She affirmed that the collaboration between the parties remains intact ahead of the by-poll.
Meanwhile, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Opondo Kaluma raised concerns over alleged intimidation of the ODM candidate by the police during campaigns.
He urged security agencies to maintain neutrality and ensure a fair electoral process as Kasipul prepares to vote.
