The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya has intensified the fight against doping through a major clean sport education campaign targeting elite athletes in Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, in a move aimed at protecting Kenya’s global athletics reputation.

According to ADAK officials they visited16 leading athletics camps in Iten and surrounding areas, where hundreds of athletes who are preparing for international competitions received training on anti-doping regulations and athlete responsibilities.

Some of the athletes reached during the exercise included world-renowned stars Faith Kipyegon, Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Lilian Kasait.

During the sessions, athletes were educated on banned substances, safe use of medication, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), whereabouts requirements, supplement risks and the importance of proper nutrition in preventing unintentional doping violations.

Speaking during one of the engagements, ADAK Principal Education Officer Kennedy Mwai said the agency remains committed to ensuring athletes understand that clean sport is a shared responsibility.

He noted that educating athletes on anti-doping rules is key in preserving fairness in competition, protecting athletes’ health and safeguarding careers.

Coaches from various camps also praised the initiative, saying the sessions were timely and important in helping athletes better understand integrity in sport.

The programme comes at a time when Kenya continues to strengthen measures against doping as the country seeks to maintain its status as a global athletics powerhouse under the recognition of World Athletics.
