Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nairobi NEC representative Dan Shikanda has written to FKF President Hussein Mohammed, raising concerns over governance, constitutional compliance and financial accountability ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for October 13, 2026, at Weston Hotel in Nairobi.
In his letter dated October 7, Shikanda expressed disappointment with the handling of key federation matters, arguing that NEC members should receive adequate information and be given sufficient time to scrutinise proposals before making decisions.
He noted that concerns raised by several NEC members during the September 8 meeting remain unresolved, despite the same issues appearing on the agenda for the upcoming meeting.
Shikanda also questioned the proposed approval of FKF’s 2025 audited accounts and the 2026/2027 financial budget, which amounts to KSh 8 billion.
He said NEC members had not received sufficient financial information to make informed decisions, adding that the required financial review processes needed to support proper oversight had not been completed.
The Nairobi representative further raised concerns over the appointment and dismissal of national team coaches and technical staff, including those serving the U-15, U-17, U-20, U-23 and senior women’s teams. He argued that NEC should be involved in these decisions in accordance with the federation’s constitution.
Shikanda acknowledged that his attendance would contribute to the quorum required for the meeting. However, citing the current 7–7 division within the NEC, he argued that his presence would allow proceedings to continue without necessarily changing the outcome of contentious agenda items.
He has requested that a pre-consultative NEC meeting be held before October 13 to identify matters ready for deliberation and withdraw contentious items until the necessary clarifications and information are provided.
The letter comes ahead of a meeting expected to address several key issues, including league competitions, refereeing policy, the national teams’ calendar, the proposed FKF Technical Centre, constitutional amendments and the federation’s financial affairs.
