Three suspects believed to be behind a series of robberies in Machakos County have been arrested following an intelligence-led operation that began with a single arrest and led police to an entire criminal network.
The operation started at Quarry Road, where officers arrested the first suspect linked to a robbery along Beijing Road in which a mobile phone and Ksh10,000 were stolen.
A search of his residence recovered a machete, a grey combat jacket, and motorcycle number plates suspected to have been used in the criminal activities.
The suspect then led officers to his accomplices, resulting in two further arrests.
Among those arrested is a suspected receiver of stolen mobile phones, a key link in the chain that enables stolen property to keep circulating and potentially fuels further robberies.
A search at the second suspect’s residence in the Embala area of Mlolongo led to the recovery of ten assorted mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.
All three suspects are in custody pending arraignment.
