The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced the death of Silas Cheboi, who served as the authority’s Assistant Director of Surveillance and Enforcement.

EPRA shared the news on its X account on Thursday, August 13, 2026, describing Cheboi’s death as a significant loss to the institution, his colleagues and those who worked with him.

In a message of condolence, the authority said Cheboi would be remembered for his commitment to his work and the responsibilities entrusted to him.

“He will be remembered for his dedicated service, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the mandate of EPRA,” the authority said.

Cheboi’s role in surveillance and enforcement placed him at the centre of EPRA’s efforts to uphold compliance and enforce regulations within the energy and petroleum sector.

The authority said his passing had affected colleagues who had the opportunity to work alongside him during his service.

“His passing is a profound loss to the authority, his colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working with him,” EPRA stated.

The regulator extended its condolences to Cheboi’s family, friends, colleagues and others mourning his death.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who mourn his loss,” the Authority said, wishing them strength and comfort during the difficult period.

A memorial poster released by EPRA also paid tribute to Cheboi, describing him as “a leader with vision” and “a servant at heart.” The message further highlighted his contribution to the authority, saying his dedication had strengthened its mandate and inspired others.

Cheboi’s burial has been scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his Solian home in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.

As colleagues and relatives prepare to bid him farewell, EPRA has remembered Cheboi as a dedicated public servant whose contribution to the authority left a lasting impact.

“Well done, good and faithful servant. Till resurrection time,” EPRA said in its tribute.
