Five suspected members of a criminal gang linked to a series of robberies and mobile phone snatching incidents in Dandora Phase III have been arrested following a targeted police operation conducted by officers from Dandora Police Station in Nairobi.
According to a statement released by the National Police Service on Tuesday, May 27, 2026, the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling organised criminal networks operating within the area.
Police said the operation was informed by intelligence reports and heightened surveillance targeting criminal activities that have been affecting residents in Dandora and surrounding estates.
“Police officers based at Dandora Police Station within the Nairobi Region yesterday, 26th May 2026, conducted a targeted operation which culminated in the arrest of five suspects believed to be members of a criminal gang that has been terrorising residents through mobile phone snatching, robberies, and the theft of Kenya Power token meters within the estates,” the statement read.
During the raid, officers stormed a mobile phone repair shop in Dandora Phase III, which detectives now suspect was being used as a hideout and distribution point for stolen items.
“Acting on credible leads, the officers raided a mobile phone repair shop located in Dandora Phase III, a premise now believed to have been operating as a concealment and distribution point for stolen property,” the police stated.
Authorities recovered 21 mobile phones of different brands and models believed to have been stolen from members of the public during robberies and phone-snatching incidents.
Officers also recovered 12 Kenya Power token meters suspected to have been illegally removed from residential houses within the estate.
The suspects are currently in police custody awaiting further investigations and arraignment in court.
The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at combating crime and restoring public safety in Nairobi and other parts of the country.
