Five suspects have been arrested following a police operation targeting drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the Kipapuro area of Mtwapa, Kilifi County.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Mtwapa Police Station conducted the operation as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and restore order in the area. The operation resulted in the recovery of 30 sachets and 175 rolls of suspected cannabis sativa, which were seized as exhibits to support investigations.

In a statement shared on its official X account on July 16, 2026, the NPS said the operation forms part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and street crime.

“Five suspects, believed to be involved in the distribution of narcotic drugs and other criminal activities, were apprehended,” the police said.

The suspects have been taken into custody and are awaiting processing before being arraigned in court.

The service reiterated its commitment to tackling crime through intelligence-led operations and sustained enforcement across the country.

“The National Police Service remains committed to combating crime through proactive policing, intelligence-led operations and sustained enforcement against individuals involved in drug trafficking and other crimes,” the statement added.

Police also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
